Bridgewater College Jazz Ensemble to Give Concert Nov. 4

The Jazz Ensemble will perform a wide array of musical styles, including swing, rock, funk, mambo and blues. The Ensemble will also perform Respect by Otis Redding and made popular by the late Aretha Franklin.

The Bridgewater College Jazz Ensemble will present a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, in Cole Hall at Bridgewater College.

The concert will be directed by Dr. Christine Carrillo, associate professor of music and director of instrumental music at Bridgewater College.

The Jazz Ensemble will perform a wide array of musical styles, including swing, rock, funk, mambo and blues. Standard tunes will include Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller, Mambo from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein, Beat It by Michael Jackson, St. Louis Blues by W.C. Handy and Take Five by Paul Desmond.

The Ensemble will also perform Respect by Otis Redding and made popular by the late Aretha Franklin. This piece will feature vocalist Teresa Mejia, a junior music major, from Front Royal, Va.

The concert is free and open to the public.
