Dave Essinger, author of Running Out: Training for Life, will speak on the connections between running and writing, and how the skills that make us good at one can apply to the other.
Dave Essinger, author of Running Out, will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in Cole Hall at Bridgewater College.
Essinger, who is a writer and an ultrarunner, will speak on “Running Out: Training for Life.”
His first novel, Running Out, is based on ultrarunning. He says his hope is that the human aspect of the story will engage those who do not run.
Other recent writings appear in Gargoyle, Sport Literate and Midwestern Gothic. Essinger also is a fiction reader for Slice magazine and general editor of the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) Intro Journals Project.
Essinger is an associate professor at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio, where he serves as editor and faculty adviser of the literary magazine Slippery Elm.
