Their past engagements have included performances at The Met\, Joe’s Pub\, Rockwood Music Hall\, The Juilliard School\, Chateau Marmont\, Curtis Institute of Music\, Lincoln Center\, Carnegie Hall and the 92nd Street Y. Their electronic debut composition\, “Letters from COVID\,” was recently featured at TED@PMI for a global audience of more than 30\,000 people from 182 countries. The film examines the rise of Hitler and Nazism in Germany in the context of global anti-Semitism and racism\, the eugenics movement in the U.S. and race laws in the American South.  \n\n\n\nThe endowed lecture is sponsored by the Anna B. Kedrowski\, Director of the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics and Professor of Political Science at Iowa State University\, is the keynote speaker for Bridgewater College’s Constitution Day event held via Zoom on Tuesday\, Sept. 20\, at 5 p.m. \n\n\n\nThe event\, “It’s Not Done: 100 Years of the Equal Rights Amendment\,” will cover the history of the failed Equal Rights Amendment and Virginia’s key role in recent efforts to revive it. Seventy percent of Americans wrongly believe that the Constitution guarantees men and women equal rights and three-fourths support the ERA\, but the ERA was first introduced nearly 100 years and has not yet been added to the Constitution. \n\n\n\nKedrowski holds a B.A. in political science\, history and French from the University of Minnesota and an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from University of Oklahoma. She joined Iowa State in January 2019. Prior\, Kedrowski spent 24 years at Winthrop University in Rock Hill\, S.C.\, where she rose from assistant professor to Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. \n\n\n\nThe lecture is free and accessible to the public. Told with insight and wit\, Deacon King Kong demonstrates that love and faith live in all of us.  \n\n\n\nThe event will be a traditional lecture format beginning at 7:30 p.m. with a Q&A portion to follow. The concert will conclude with Taylor accompanying a screening of the short silent film His Royal Slyness starring Harold Lloyd. \n\n\n\nTaylor teaches piano\, organ\, music theory and music history at Bridgewater College. He holds a doctor of musical arts degree in organ from the University of Cincinnati\, master of music degrees from Emory University and Notre Dame\, and a bachelor of music degree from Seton Hill University in Greensburg\, Pa. As a composer\, Taylor has collaborated with librettist Tom Noe to produce the operas Marie Curie\, Eros and Psyche and The Dickinsons of Amherst. In addition to solo recitals on piano and organ\, Taylor arranges and performs accompaniments on organ for classic silent films. \n\n\n\nThe recital is free and open to the public. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare

For information on summer hours and holiday closures\, visit libguides.bridgewater.edu. \n\n\n\nBridgewater College Special Collections will exhibit “The ’20s are Back at Bridgewater\,” a showcase of 1920s BC artifacts compared to their modern-day counterparts\, from April 19 through Oct. 3. The exhibition will be on display on the lower level of the John Kenny Forrer Learning Commons on the College’s campus. \n\n\n\nThrough photographs\, artifacts and archival memorabilia from the 1920s and today\, visitors are encouraged to ask themselves the questions\, “Were the ’20s really roaring at Bridgewater College?” and\, “How has BC student life changed from the 1920s to today?” \n\n\n\nThe exhibition is curated by Stephanie S. Gardner\, Special Collections Librarian\, and Savannah Scott ‘23. The exhibition features historic materials from the Newlen-Bradford Special Collections and the Reuel B. Pritchett Museum Collection\, with contemporary components provided by lenders and donors across campus. \n\n\n\nIn conjunction with the exhibition\, FLC Circulation Supervisor Sylvia Jones curated a display of available books and DVDs set in and featuring the 1920s. The display can be found on the FLC’s main floor near the services desk. \n\n\n\nThe exhibition is free and open to the public. The gallery is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday\, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday\, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. DESCRIPTION:Theatre at Bridgewater College Presents: Death of a SalesmanWhen: April 7-April 9\, 8 p.m.Where: Cole Hall \n\n\n\nTheatre at Bridgewater College presents Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller beginning Thursday April 7\, through Saturday\, April 9\, in Cole Hall on the College’s campus. The show will begin at 8 p.m. each night. Tickets are free. \n\n\n\nConsidered one of the greatest plays of the 20th century\, Death of a Salesman is set in 1940s New York and told through a montage of memories\, dreams and arguments of the main character\, a traveling salesman who is disappointed with his life. The play explores a variety of themes including the American Dream\, the anatomy of truth and infidelity. Death of a Salesman is recommended for mature audiences because of a depiction of death by suicide.  \n\n\n\nThe show is an honors project directed by senior psychology and business administration double major Kylie Chisnell of Owings Mills\, Md. Death of a Salesman is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing\, LLC\, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare
