Their past engagements have included performances at The Met\, Joe’s Pub\, Rockwood Music Hall\, The Juilliard School\, Chateau Marmont\, Curtis Institute of Music\, Lincoln Center\, Carnegie Hall and the 92nd Street Y. Their electronic debut composition\, “Letters from COVID\,” was recently featured at TED@PMI for a global audience of more than 30\,000 people from 182 countries. The film examines the rise of Hitler and Nazism in Germany in the context of global anti-Semitism and racism\, the eugenics movement in the U.S. and race laws in the American South.  \n\n\n\nThe endowed lecture is sponsored by the Anna B. Founded in 2019\, the Shenandoah Valley Archives Fair is an annual event that connects the regional community with Valley history.  Styled as an expo\, visitors meet with representatives of regional collecting institutions and learn about the unique primary sources that are preserved and shared by Shenandoah Valley archives.  This free event will be of interest to students\, teachers\, historians and genealogists. Kedrowski\, Director of the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics and Professor of Political Science at Iowa State University\, is the keynote speaker for Bridgewater College’s Constitution Day event held via Zoom on Tuesday\, Sept. 20\, at 5 p.m. \n\n\n\nThe event\, “It’s Not Done: 100 Years of the Equal Rights Amendment\,” will cover the history of the failed Equal Rights Amendment and Virginia’s key role in recent efforts to revive it. Seventy percent of Americans wrongly believe that the Constitution guarantees men and women equal rights and three-fourths support the ERA\, but the ERA was first introduced nearly 100 years and has not yet been added to the Constitution. \n\n\n\nKedrowski holds a B.A. in political science\, history and French from the University of Minnesota and an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from University of Oklahoma. She joined Iowa State in January 2019. Prior\, Kedrowski spent 24 years at Winthrop University in Rock Hill\, S.C.\, where she rose from assistant professor to Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. \n\n\n\nThe lecture is free and accessible to the public. DESCRIPTION:AT A GLANCEFaculty Organ Recital: Dignity and Impudence with Dr. Larry TaylorWhen: Sunday\, Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m.Where: Concert Hall\, Carter Center for Worship and MusicCost: Free and open to the public \n\n\n\nDr. Larry Taylor\, professor of music at Bridgewater College\, will give a faculty organ recital at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday\, Sept. 4\, in the Concert Hall at the Carter Center for Worship and Music on the College’s campus. \n\n\n\nThe program\, Dignity and Impudence\, will open with “Benedictus” by Alec Rowley and feature works by Johann Sebastian Bach\, Harrison Oxley\, Percy Whitlock\, Denis Bédard and Charles-Marie Widor. The concert will conclude with Taylor accompanying a screening of the short silent film His Royal Slyness starring Harold Lloyd. \n\n\n\nTaylor teaches piano\, organ\, music theory and music history at Bridgewater College. He holds a doctor of musical arts degree in organ from the University of Cincinnati\, master of music degrees from Emory University and Notre Dame\, and a bachelor of music degree from Seton Hill University in Greensburg\, Pa. As a composer\, Taylor has collaborated with librettist Tom Noe to produce the operas Marie Curie\, Eros and Psyche and The Dickinsons of Amherst. In addition to solo recitals on piano and organ\, Taylor arranges and performs accompaniments on organ for classic silent films. \n\n\n\nThe recital is free and open to the public. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare

Zompetti’s “The Lost Garden” series was created by exposing large-format film to environmental conditions over extended periods of time. Wind\, rain\, ice and snow alter the film\, cracking and pulling the delicate silver emulsion\, leaving time and place-specific impressions. \n\n\n\nThe art exhibition will have an opening reception in the gallery from 5-7 p.m. on Monday\, Aug. 29\, and an artist’s talk at 5:30 p.m. \n\n\n\nThe art exhibition\, opening reception and artist’s talk are free and open to the public. The gallery is open from 7:30 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday; 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday; and noon to midnight on Sunday. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare
