SUMMARY:Special Collections Exhibition: Discovery and Exploration\, Science and Math at BC Through the Years
DESCRIPTION:The Robert R. Newlen ‘75 & John C. Bradford Special Collections at Bridgewater College will display “Discovery and Exploration: Science and Math at BC Through the Years” from October 27\, 2023\, to April 8\, 2024.  \n\n\n\nThe exhibition showcases photographs and ephemera from the College archives and includes multiple views of BC science students\, professors and technology throughout the 20th century. Artifacts on loan from Bridgewater College’s Departments of Engineering and Physics\, Chemistry and Biochemistry\, Mathematics and Computer Science\, and Biology and Environmental Science\, as well as artifacts preserved in the Newlen-Bradford Special Collections\, will feature prominently in the exhibition. Vintage laboratory equipment\, an old telescope\, natural history specimens and historic computing artifacts will round out the showcase.  \n\n\n\nSpecial Collections Librarian Stephanie S. Gardner\, Mackenzie Smith ’24 and Zach Watts ’24 co-curated the exhibition.  \n\n\n\nThe exhibition is free to the public and shows on the lower level of the John Kenny Forrer Learning Commons during the hours that the building is open to the public: 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays\, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 9 p.m. on Sundays. Check the Forrer Learning Commons website before visiting for campus holidays and weather-related closings. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare

DESCRIPTION:AT A GLANCEShenandoah Valley Archives FairWhen: Wednesday\, Oct. 12\, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.                                      Where: Newlen-Bradford Special Collections of the John Kenny Forrer Learning Commons at Bridgewater CollegeCost: Free to the public \n\n\n\nDiscover history and celebrate Virginia Archives Month with Bridgewater College at the annual Shenandoah Valley Archives Fair. Founded in 2019\, the Shenandoah Valley Archives Fair is an annual event that connects the regional community with Valley history.  Styled as an expo\, visitors meet with representatives of regional collecting institutions and learn about the unique primary sources that are preserved and shared by Shenandoah Valley archives.  This free event will be of interest to students\, teachers\, historians and genealogists.  Archivists will share the scope of their collections and tell how to conduct research with the primary sources.
