He’s a Grammy-nominated musician living in Fulks Run\, Va. Raised in the Shenandoah Valley\, he has absorbed its rich story-telling and musical traditions and has traveled and performed most of his adult life. His music reflects life\, love and loss wrapped in beautiful melodies and artful musicianship. Kedrowski\, Director of the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics and Professor of Political Science at Iowa State University\, is the keynote speaker for Bridgewater College’s Constitution Day event held via Zoom on Tuesday\, Sept. 20\, at 5 p.m. \n\n\n\nThe event\, “It’s Not Done: 100 Years of the Equal Rights Amendment\,” will cover the history of the failed Equal Rights Amendment and Virginia’s key role in recent efforts to revive it. Seventy percent of Americans wrongly believe that the Constitution guarantees men and women equal rights and three-fourths support the ERA\, but the ERA was first introduced nearly 100 years and has not yet been added to the Constitution. \n\n\n\nKedrowski holds a B.A. in political science\, history and French from the University of Minnesota and an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from University of Oklahoma. She joined Iowa State in January 2019. Prior\, Kedrowski spent 24 years at Winthrop University in Rock Hill\, S.C.\, where she rose from assistant professor to Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. \n\n\n\nThe lecture is free and accessible to the public. Attendees will be entered into a raffle to win a signed copy of Trotter’s book\, Born Gifted. \n\n\n\nFormer collegiate football player-turned-entrepreneur Nisan Trotter will speak at Bridgewater College on Thursday\, April 7\, at 7 p.m. in Cole Hall during the College’s celebration of Division III Athletics Week. His lecture\, “The Gift of Leadership\,” will touch on the seven pillars that gifted leaders use to help them inspire those around them. Whether that’s on or off the field\, Trotter reminds his audiences that gifted leaders can inspire anytime\, anyplace and anywhere.  \n\n\n\nDivision III Week\, sponsored by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)\, is a week-long celebration to acknowledge the impact of athletics and of student-athletes on campus and in the surrounding community. This year’s celebration runs April 4 to April 10\, 2022.  \n\n\n\nA Silverhill\, Ala.\, native\, Trotter loved sports at an early age and transitioned year-round from football\, basketball and baseball. He earned a football scholarship to Bucknell University in Lewisburg\, Pa.\, where he made an impact on his college campus in several ways. While at Bucknell\, Trotter was the recipient of the Most Inspirational Player of the Year Award by his teammates\, and the university honored him with its first ever Diversity Achiever Award for his ability to connect with different communities\, socioeconomic backgrounds and diverse individuals.  \n\n\n\nTrotter’s impassioned pursuit of entrepreneurship led him to co-found TROTFITNESS Fit Body Boot Camp\, one of the nation’s top fitness boot camps\, where he has helped thousands of people in central Pennsylvania reach their health and fitness goals. He received the 2015 Fitness Business Summit Personal Trainer of the Year Award for his business success.   \n\n\n\nThe event will begin at 7 p.m. in Cole Hall on the College’s campus. It has been rescheduled to March 8. \n\n\n\nBusiness owner\, speaker and trailblazer Eboné Bell will speak at Bridgewater College on Tuesday\, March 8\, at 7 p.m. in Cole Hall. \n\n\n\nBell shines bright in the world of entrepreneurship\, LGBTQ issues\, media and activism. She is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Tagg Magazine and Tagg Communication LLC. After seeing a lack of LGBTQ women represented in local publications\, she decided to start a magazine and website to tell stories\, provide resources and create events. In 2018\, Eboné founded the Tagg Scholarship Fund—a scholarship created specifically for young\, queer\, women of color who can’t afford to attend school.  \n\n\n\nThe future of diversity includes transformation\, connection\, acceptance and real change. Bell doesn’t want to just create change\, she believes in creating intentional change. She encourages students to discover and explore how they show up in the world. \n\n\n\nThe event is free and open to the public. In keeping with guidance from the CDC\, Bridgewater College requires that all individuals\, regardless of vaccination status\, properly wear face masks when indoors in public areas of campus. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare
