SUMMARY:Artist's Talk/Opening Reception: with/hold by Sarah Spencer White

She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. White has been a working\, exhibiting sculptor since receiving her MFA in 1997 from the University of Colorado at Boulder where she studied with Scott Chamberlin\, Betty Woodman and Antonette Rosato. She has worked and lived in Fredericksburg\, Va.\, with her husband and three children since 2015. \n\n\n\n“My working process stems from a curiosity about the strangeness of everyday. It is this search for an unfamiliar view of the familiar that led me to abstraction and distortion\,” White’s artist statement reads. “An abstract form traps the viewer in the liminal state between knowing and not knowing. Because the object cannot be named or defined in a traditional sense\, the viewer must continually look back to the object for clues of its intended function and meaning.” \n\n\n\nThe gallery is open from 7:30 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday; 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday; and noon to midnight on Sunday. In case of inclement weather closings\, check bridgewater.edu. An opening reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday\, Feb. 14\, at the gallery and White will give an artist’s talk that night at 5:30 p.m. \n\n\n\nBoth the exhibit and opening reception/artist’s talk are free and open to the public. In keeping with guidance from the CDC\, Bridgewater College requires that all individuals\, regardless of vaccination status\, properly wear face masks when indoors in public areas of campus. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare
